In 2017 election of Bhimeshwor Municipality (Dolakha district), candidate Bharat Bahadur K.c of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,853 (51.10%) votes out of total votes of 13,412 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Ishwor Narayan Manandhar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 5,815 (28.69%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 744 (2.77) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Kamala Basnet of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 7,017 (64.12%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Kamala Karki of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,879 (16.03%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,047 (4.78) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 174 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 114 (65.52%) males and 60 (34.48%) females. Moreover, there were total 38 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 67 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 30 females and 25 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
