Khanikhola is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Kavrepalanchok district, Province No. 3 of Nepal. Khanikhola has total 7 wards, which are scattered across 132 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Khanikhola Rural Municipality had total population of 14,398.

As of 2011, 407 population in Khanikhola Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 2.83 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 373, which equals to 5.28 percent of total 7,064 males. Same as, 34 females were absent, which equals to 0.46 percent of 7,334 females. At least one member of 355 (14.97 percent) households were absent.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (1,141), between 10 and 14 (1,127), between 15 and 19 (848), below 4 (844), and between 20 and 24 (498), with total population of 4,458. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (69), between 65 and 69 (113), above 75 (115),between 60 and 64 (136), and between 55 and 59 (164), with total population of 597. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (1,141), between 5 and 9 (1,087), between 15 and 19 (908), below 4 (871), and between 20 and 24 (670), with total population of 4,677. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (77), between 65 and 69 (92), between 60 and 64 (145),between 55 and 59 (146), and above 75 (150), with total population of 610.

The population with age-group 65 to 69 had male to female ratio of 1.23, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.74. The age-groups 65 to 69, 55 to 59, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 5 to 9, 40 to 44 had majority of male population while age-groups 10 to 14, 35 to 39, below 4, 60 to 64, 15 to 19, 30 to 34, 70 to 74, 25 to 29, above 75, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 52.58 % (7,571 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 43.14 % with total number of 6,211. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.28 % with total number of 616. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 47.42 with total number of 6,827

There were 3,396 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 1,715. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 505 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 17,479 in Khanikhola Rural Municipality with 8,664 (49.57%) of males and 8,815 (50.43%) females. There were total 42 schools. In average, 416 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Khanikhola Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Tamang caste with total population of 11,541. There were as little as Ghale caste with population of as little as 13 in total. People of several other castes who live in Khanikhola are Magar, Chhetri, Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Majhi, Pahari, Gurung, Damai/Dholi, Newar, Dalit Others, Ghale, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Khanikhola Rural Municipality are Tamang (11,541), Magar (1,100), Chhetri (679), Brahmin - Hill (417) and Kami (180) with total population of 13,917, which forms 96.66 percent out of total population of 14,398 in Khanikhola Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 14,398, there were total 322 (2.24%) disabled persons in Khanikhola Rural Municipality with 173 (53.73%) males and 149 (46.27%) females. The physically disabled persons were 118, while mentally disabled people were 17 and intellectually disabled were 12.

Similarly, there were 66 people who were blind and 23 people were deaf, while 19 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 43 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 24 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 2372 households in Khanikhola Rural Municipality, there were 2,165 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 7 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 2 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 183houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 2,266 houses were mud bonded, 13 houses were cement bonded, 51 houses were wood planks bonded, 34 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,232 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 1,048 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 48 houses had roof of tile, 0 houses had RCC roofs, 33 houses had roof of woods while 1 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 1,275 out of 2,372 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,053 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 36 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Khanikhola Rural Municipality, there were total 2,194 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 1 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 7 houses had covered well while 88 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (10) and river stream (57), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 2,254 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 10 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 0 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (2), bio-gas (98), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 1,810 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 512, while 36 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.76.

out of 2,372 households in Khanikhola Rural Municipality, 740 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 1,566 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 1,213, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 884.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 249 establishments in Khanikhola Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 572 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 329 and female engagement of 243 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.30 people engaged with average males are 1.32 and females are 0.98. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.35, which means as many as 1.35 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
