Rs 100 million worth of emergency fund to fight COVID-19

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to set up an emergency fund worth Rs 100 million to fight coronavirus. A metropolis meeting on Thursday took a decision to this effect.

Metropolis ward, small, medium and big, each would receive Rs 200,000, Rs 300,000 and Rs 400,000 respectively from the fund to check and control the infection, said the metropolis mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya after the meeting. "The meeting also decided to distribute pamphlets and banners featuring awareness against the virus and dengue in Nepali and Nepal Bhasa languages. Help desks along with essential medical equipment would be set up at various locations," he said, adding that local people have been urged not to gather in crowds at public places, temples, monasteries and mosques.

A help desk would be set up and operated round-the-clock under the public health division in the metropolis, he said.

Against the infection, respective departments, divisions and branches would be directed or caused to direct to enforce the decisions of the federal government and the monitoring committee to control black marketing led by the metropolis deputy mayor made effective, he said.
