Development not in people’s reach, CM Shahi says

Chief Minister of Karnali State Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has said that development is yet to reach before the people despite allocation of budget.

Addressing the fourth district assembly of the District Coordination Committee of West Rukum here Monday, he said that the trend of seeking development in the name of consumers will not ensure development with people’s access.

He was of the view that the budget allocated for the people’s development is being misused as the budget has been individual-centric. Likewise, he shared that prosperity in people’s lives was not coming since the budget is being mobilised in the old-fashion way even though the country has already embraced federalism.

Most of the projects are not being implemented and lack of irrigation and drinking water supplies and other physical infrastructures was the main problem of the time, he added.

People’s aspirations and expectations should be advanced for the people’s economic prosperity and high-speed development in the country, Chief Minister Shahi said.

The Chief Minister also suggested that the local governments should unveil programmes and projects for the promotion of women and children.
