Tikapur is a Municipality, which is located in Kailali district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Tikapur has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 118 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Tikapur Municipality had total population of 76,084.

As of 2011, 10,952 population in Tikapur Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 14.39 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 8,158, which equals to 22.51 percent of total 36,245 males. Same as, 2,794 females were absent, which equals to 7.01 percent of 39,839 females. At least one member of 4,826 (31.43 percent) households were absent.

In terms of age, the largest population in Tikapur Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 11,096. Gender wise, there were 5,724 males and 5,372 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 1,074 population, which consistes of 546 males and 528 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (11,096), between 15 and 19 (9,334), between 5 and 9 (9,036), between 20 and 24 (7,283), below 4 (6,343) with total population of 43,092. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (5,724), between 5 and 9 (4,743), between 15 and 19 (4,354), below 4 (3,355), and between 20 and 24 (3,105), with total population of 21,281. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (546), between 70 and 74 (555), between 65 and 69 (737),between 55 and 59 (935), and between 60 and 64 (1,009), with total population of 3,782. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (5,372), between 15 and 19 (4,980), between 5 and 9 (4,293), between 20 and 24 (4,178), and between 25 and 29 (3,509), with total population of 22,332. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (528), between 70 and 74 (608), between 65 and 69 (767),between 55 and 59 (1,128), and between 50 and 54 (1,217), with total population of 4,248.

The population with age-group below 4 had male to female ratio of 1.12, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.74. The age-groups below 4, 5 to 9, 10 to 14, above 75 had majority of male population while age-groups 65 to 69, 50 to 54, 70 to 74, 45 to 49, 15 to 19, 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 60.29 % (45,868 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 34.80 % with total number of 26,475. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.92 % with total number of 3,741. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 39.71 with total number of 30,216

There were 21,646 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 6,343. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 293 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 11,462 in Tikapur Municipality with 5,264 (45.93%) of males and 6,198 (54.07%) females. There were total 68 schools. In average, 169 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Tikapur Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Tharu caste with total population of 31,821. There were as little as Brahmin - Tarai caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Tikapur are Chhetri, Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Thakuri, Dalit Others, Magar, Damai/Dholi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Muslim, Lohar, Mallaha, Sarki, Newar, Badi, Kurmi, Rajbansi, Thakali, Meche, Raji, Gurung, Thami, Tamang, Rai, Kumal, Kathbaniyan, Terai Others, Teli, Punjabi/Shikh, Kumhar, Limbu, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Tatma/Tatwa, Foreigner, Haluwai, Bhote, Kayastha, Brahmin - Tarai, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Tikapur Municipality are Tharu (31,821), Chhetri (17,204), Brahmin - Hill (7,995), Kami (5,902) and Thakuri (3,197) with total population of 66,119, which forms 86.90 percent out of total population of 76,084 in Tikapur Municipality.

Out of total population of 76,084, there were total 1,247 (1.64%) disabled persons in Tikapur Municipality with 644 (51.64%) males and 603 (48.36%) females. The physically disabled persons were 424, while mentally disabled people were 102 and intellectually disabled were 29.

Similarly, there were 336 people who were blind and 160 people were deaf, while 8 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 109 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 79 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 15356 households in Tikapur Municipality, there were 4,802 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 2,154 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 1,296 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 6,467houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 3,623 houses were mud bonded, 4,324 houses were cement bonded, 876 houses were wood planks bonded, 4,093 houses were bamboo bonded and 513 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 3,012 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 2,433 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 6,341 houses had roof of tile, 3,274 houses had RCC roofs, 44 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 5,323 out of 15,356 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 5,768 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 4,177 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Tikapur Municipality, there were total 1,087 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 13,802 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 13 houses had covered well while 9 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (216) and river stream (1), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 13,435 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 41 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 954 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (18), bio-gas (794), fuel electricity (10), etc.

Same as, total 12,462 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,795, while 41 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.81.

out of 15,356 households in Tikapur Municipality, 1,517 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 13,629 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Bicycle was used by the maximum households with total users of 11,167, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 10,643.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 3,102 establishments in Tikapur Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 9,207 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 5,589 and female engagement of 3,618 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.97 people engaged with average males are 1.80 and females are 1.17. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.54, which means as many as 1.54 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
