In 2017 election of Thulung Dudhkaushika Rural Municipality (Solukhumbu district), candidate Buddhi Kiran Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,191 (42.99%) votes out of total votes of 5,096 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bhoj Raj Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 1,599 (21.94%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,306 (12.81) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Junita Maya Magar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,262 (44.63%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Umrita Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,608 (21.94%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,198 (11.82) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 116 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 70 (60.34%) males and 46 (39.66%) females. Moreover, there were total 24 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 42 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 21 females and 21 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
