Shuklaphanta is a Municipality, which is located in Kanchanpur district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Shuklaphanta has total 12 wards, which are scattered across 163 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Shuklaphanta Municipality had total population of 46,834.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Shuklaphanta Municipality had total 46,834 population with 21,925 males and 24,909 females. Out of total wards, ward number 11 had the largest population 5,924, while ward number 6 had least number of population with 5,924.

In terms of age, the largest population in Shuklaphanta Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 7,044. Gender wise, there were 3,650 males and 3,394 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 645 population, which consistes of 328 males and 317 females. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (3,650), between 5 and 9 (3,096), between 15 and 19 (2,624), below 4 (2,504), and between 20 and 24 (1,528), with total population of 13,402. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (328), above 75 (338), between 65 and 69 (418),between 60 and 64 (568), and between 55 and 59 (608), with total population of 2,260. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (3,394), between 15 and 19 (3,032), between 5 and 9 (2,983), between 20 and 24 (2,510), and below 4 (2,389), with total population of 14,308. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (317), above 75 (356), between 65 and 69 (420),between 55 and 59 (580), and between 60 and 64 (646), with total population of 2,319.

The population with age-group 10 to 14 had male to female ratio of 1.08, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.61. The age-groups 10 to 14, below 4, 55 to 59, 5 to 9, 70 to 74 had majority of male population while age-groups 50 to 54, above 75, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, 15 to 19, 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 30 to 34, 25 to 29, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 65 to 69 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 56.88 % (26,641 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 38.47 % with total number of 18,016. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.65 % with total number of 2,177. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 43.12 with total number of 20,193

There were 13,072 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 4,893. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 374 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 15,026 in Shuklaphanta Municipality with 7,340 (48.85%) of males and 7,686 (51.15%) females. There were total 49 schools. In average, 307 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Shuklaphanta Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Chhetri caste with total population of 18,126. There were as little as Brahmin - Tarai caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Shuklaphanta are Tharu, Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Dalit Others, Thakuri, Damai/Dholi, Sarki, Magar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Lohar, Badi, Muslim, Rajput, Kathbaniyan, Tamang, Kumal, Newar, Brahmin - Tarai, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Shuklaphanta Municipality are Chhetri (18,126), Tharu (11,533), Brahmin - Hill (8,833), Kami (2,173) and Dalit Others (1,864) with total population of 42,529, which forms 90.81 percent out of total population of 46,834 in Shuklaphanta Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 46,834, there were total 1,148 (2.45%) disabled persons in Shuklaphanta Municipality with 601 (52.35%) males and 547 (47.65%) females. The physically disabled persons were 458, while mentally disabled people were 76 and intellectually disabled were 25.

Similarly, there were 198 people who were blind and 205 people were deaf, while 17 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 99 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 70 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 8857 households in Shuklaphanta Municipality, there were 713 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 1,623 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 70 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 6,396houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 172 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 232 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 7,050 houses had roof of tile, 1,261 houses had RCC roofs, 63 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 5,343 out of 8,857 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 2,285 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,198 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Shuklaphanta Municipality, there were total 170 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 8,434 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 38 houses had covered well while 5 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 8,253 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 40 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 156 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (11), bio-gas (362), fuel electricity (1), etc.

Same as, total 7,573 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,078, while 47 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.86.

Facilities

out of 8,857 households in Shuklaphanta Municipality, 922 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 7,793 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Bicycle was used by the maximum households with total users of 6,045, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 6,043.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,033 establishments in Shuklaphanta Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,913 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 2,058 and female engagement of 855 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.82 people engaged with average males are 1.99 and females are 0.83.
