In 2017 election of Raskot Municipality (Kalikot district), candidate Kashi Chandra Baral of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,115 (38.43%) votes out of total votes of 5,503 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Mani Raj Baral of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 1,830 (24.02%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,558 (14.16) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Mimsara Bam of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,235 (46.40%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Uma Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,863 (26.42%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 719 (7.46) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 186 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 111 (59.68%) males and 75 (40.32%) females. Moreover, there were total 40 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 70 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 35 females and 29 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
