In 2017 election of Rapti Rural Municipality (Dang district), candidate Numananda Subedi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,797 (31.30%) votes out of total votes of 15,325 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Shyamesh Chaudhary of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 3,942 (19.59%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 6,586 (21.49) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Jagdamba Kumari Chaudhary of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,582 (29.94%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Himali Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,044 (20.33%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 6,680 (21.82) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 251 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 137 (54.58%) males and 114 (45.42%) females. Moreover, there were total 55 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 95 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 48 females and 40 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
