In 2017 election of Mayadevi Rural Municipality (Rupandehi district), candidate Dhruv Narayan Chaudhary of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,816 (21.38%) votes out of total votes of 13,172 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Adhare Ahir of Independent (Ind) who secured 2,252 (14.09%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 8,104 (30.76) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Tara Devi Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,213 (19.64%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Raj Kumari Chaudhary of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) secured 2,169 (16.09%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 6,888 (30.56) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 304 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 192 (63.16%) males and 112 (36.84%) females. Moreover, there were total 69 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 115 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 54 females and 50 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
