Mahagadimai Municipality (Bara) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Mahagadimai Municipality (Bara district), candidate Upendra Prasad Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,765 (29.66%) votes out of total votes of 19,439 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Sharada Shankar Prasad Kalwar of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 5,215 (20.69%) of votes. The rest of 14 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 8,459 (21.76) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Tara Devi Kanu of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,375 (28.28%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Mamata Shah of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,775 (19.59%) of votes and came in second position. Other 9 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 8,855 (23.30) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 317 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 196 (61.83%) males and 121 (38.17%) females. Moreover, there were total 65 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 115 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 55 females and 55 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
