There were 34,379 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Kathmandu District, Constituency No. 5. The candidte of Nepali Congress Party - Narahari Acharya secured 13,245 (38.53%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Ishwor Pokhrel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 9,120 (26.53%) votes and came in second position. The difference in votes of Narahari Acharya and Ishwor Pokhrel was 4,125. All other candidates secured 12,014 (34.95%) votes.
