Gokarneshwor is a Municipality, which is located in Kathmandu district, Province No. 3 of Nepal. Gokarneshwor has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 59 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gokarneshwor Municipality had total population of 107,351.

As of 2011, 7,008 population in Gokarneshwor Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 6.53 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 5,201, which equals to 9.68 percent of total 53,725 males. Same as, 1,807 females were absent, which equals to 3.37 percent of 53,626 females. At least one member of 5,419 (19.99 percent) households were absent.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 15 and 19 (6,699), between 20 and 24 (6,410), between 10 and 14 (5,994), between 25 and 29 (5,614), and between 5 and 9 (5,022), with total population of 29,739. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (406), above 75 (527), between 65 and 69 (590),between 60 and 64 (808), and between 55 and 59 (1,077), with total population of 3,408. The population with age-group below 4 had male to female ratio of 1.15, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group above 75 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.76. The age-groups below 4, 50 to 54, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 55 to 59, 5 to 9, 10 to 14, 15 to 19 had majority of male population while age-groups 35 to 39, 65 to 69, 20 to 24, 60 to 64, 25 to 29, 70 to 74, above 75 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 30 to 34 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 69.11 % (74,192 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 27.78 % with total number of 29,822. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 3.11 % with total number of 3,337. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 30.89 with total number of 33,159

There were 34,037 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 8,277. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 243 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 33,842 in Gokarneshwor Municipality with 17,229 (50.91%) of males and 16,613 (49.09%) females. There were total 100 schools. In average, 338 students were studying in each school.

Top five castes of people in Gokarneshwor Municipality are Tamang (31,885), Brahmin - Hill (18,913), Chhetri (15,878), Newar (13,048) and Sherpa (4,689) with total population of 84,413, which forms 78.63 percent out of total population of 107,351 in Gokarneshwor Municipality.

Out of total 27106 households in Gokarneshwor Municipality, there were 3,404 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 12,125 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 10,366 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 253houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 2,801 houses were mud bonded, 22,523 houses were cement bonded, 212 houses were wood planks bonded, 240 houses were bamboo bonded and 346 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 142 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 4,086 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 744 houses had roof of tile, 21,072 houses had RCC roofs, 42 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 368 out of 27,106 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 22,975 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 3,465 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Gokarneshwor Municipality, there were total 15,960 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 6,076 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 2,622 houses had covered well while 367 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (1094) and river stream (128), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 2,391 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 1,268 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 23,080 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (9), bio-gas (25), fuel electricity (11), etc.

Same as, total 26,489 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 129, while 12 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.98.

out of 27,106 households in Gokarneshwor Municipality, 649 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 26,060 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 6,542 establishments in Gokarneshwor Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 19,968 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 10,479 and female engagement of 9,489 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.05 people engaged with average males are 1.60 and females are 1.45. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.10, which means as many as 1.10 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
