In 2017 election of Silichong Rural Municipality (Sankhuwasabha district), candidate Ram Bahadur Rai (kulung) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,881 (40.47%) votes out of total votes of 4,648 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Yogendra Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 1,347 (20.63%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,420 (15.28) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Lal Kumari Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,699 (37.30%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Devi Kumari Rai Mewahang of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,405 (22.47%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,451 (15.93) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 94 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 57 (60.64%) males and 37 (39.36%) females. Moreover, there were total 19 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 35 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 18 females and 14 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
