Bhagaha Municipality (Mahottari) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Bhagaha Municipality (Mahottari district), candidate Sanjib Kumar Shah of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 4,478 (30.39%) votes out of total votes of 14,734 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Raj Narayan Raya Tharu of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 3,066 (15.96%) of votes. The rest of 10 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 7,190 (24.40) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Ganga Kumari Singh Danuwar of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 4,396 (30.89%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Shanti Kumari Singh of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,766 (20.22%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 6,069 (21.32) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 289 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 167 (57.79%) males and 122 (42.21%) females. Moreover, there were total 66 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 97 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 50 females and 57 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
