Bakaiya Rural Municipality (Makwanpur) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Bakaiya Rural Municipality (Makwanpur district), candidate Damodar Khanal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,544 (32.72%) votes out of total votes of 13,889 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Dal Bahadur Waiba of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 4,472 (24.26%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,873 (17.54) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sarala Bolakhe of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,663 (33.66%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Kamala Kumari Waiba of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,472 (24.15%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 4,718 (17.03) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 247 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 150 (60.73%) males and 97 (39.27%) females. Moreover, there were total 50 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 12 wards. Same as, total 98 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 48 females and 42 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
