In 2017 election of Bheriganga Municipality (Surkhet district), candidate Bhupendra Bahadur Chand of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,543 (44.89%) votes out of total votes of 16,805 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Yagya Prasad Dhakal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 7,384 (30.33%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,878 (5.59) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Renu Acharya of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,574 (45.19%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Chandra Acharya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 7,297 (29.98%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,891 (5.64) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 246 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 148 (60.16%) males and 98 (39.84%) females. Moreover, there were total 52 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 13 wards. Same as, total 95 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 44 females and 44 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
