In 2017 election of Siyari Rural Municipality (Rupandehi district), candidate Ayodhya Tharu of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,052 (38.24%) votes out of total votes of 15,825 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Thaneshwor Ghimire of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 5,400 (24.68%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,373 (13.82) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Amrita Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,050 (38.85%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Rita Chaudhary of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,129 (23.72%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 4,394 (14.11) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 189 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 114 (60.32%) males and 75 (39.68%) females. Moreover, there were total 37 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 71 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 32 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
