Biratnagar Metropolitan City (Morang) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Biratnagar Metropolitan City (Morang district), candidate Bhim Parajuli of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 23,031 (37.59%) votes out of total votes of 61,270 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Binod Prasad Dhakal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 17,321 (20.55%) of votes. The rest of 12 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 20,918 (17.07) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Indira Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 20,146 (42.86%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Namita Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 11,524 (17.16%) of votes and came in second position. Other 9 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 15,339 (16.31) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 703 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 448 (63.73%) males and 255 (36.27%) females. Moreover, there were total 166 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 19 wards. Same as, total 282 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 125 females and 105 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
