Biratnagar metropolis is materializing ‘one house, one tap’ campaign to make drinking water available to the municipal dwellers.<\/p>\n
The metropolis in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Nepal Drinking Water Corporation has accomplished project related study and research in various phases.<\/p>\n
With this, the metropolis is expected to materialize the denizens’ dream of ‘one home-one tap’ within some years.<\/p>\n
Biratnagar mayor Bhim Parajuli took the leadership to expedite the initiative from the very beginning. In connection with the plan, the first-phase detailed project report and progress reports prepared by JICA were presented on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The metropolis and JICA’s consultant Yachiyo Engineering Corporation Limited jointly accomplished the task.<\/p>\n
A four-member delegation headed by representative of JICA head office Yosiaki Yokota and Hirosi Kuwota has initiated its preparatory works in Biratnagar.<\/p>\n
Noting that he has a dream to provide metropolitan denizens pure drinking as part of his campaign ‘one house, one tap’, mayor Parajuli said his team has concentrated its all-out efforts with confidence to that end.<\/p>\n
The drinking water pipes which were installed more than 60-years are in dire straits. The denizens have been compelled to drink sub-standard water in some places due to unrepaired condition of the pipes.<\/p>\n
It may be noted that 13 locals had lost their life in Biratnagar because of jaundice that was believably broken out with the consumption of impure water.<\/p>\n
Biratnagar’s Chief Administrative Officer Ekdev Adhikari called for all sides to expedite the tasks to materialize the plan of distributing pure drinking water to the households.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
