Bagmati cleaning campaign affected

The 360th week of the Bagmati cleaning mega campaign was affected as a result of the nationwide lockdown imposed to stem the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. The river cleaning event was held every Saturday morning since the mega campaign began in the month of Jetha, 2070 B.S.

Some campaigners associated with the initiative however gave continuity to the sanitation work by cleaning up their neighbourhood, as people have been asked to remain inside their homes in the lockdown directive of the government.

Former Secretary and campaigner Kishore Thapa appealed through the social media to continue the cleaning campaign even by cleaning up one’s own neighbourhood.

Some people living near the Bagmati river continued the cleaning work by observing the call for physical distancing, said campaigner Mala Kharel, who lives near the river in Tilganga area.
