President Bhandari appeals all Nepalis to stay indoor to save lives

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged all the Nepalis to stay indoor considering the sensitive circumstances stemming from the pandemic COVID-19 and save one’s previous life as well as one’s family. Issuing a message here today in the context of minimizing spread of COVID-19, President Bhandari appealed for complete compliance with the code of conduct and directives issued by the authorized agencies of the government so as to contain the outbreak of the deadly virus.

Stating that the coronavirus had posed global challenge over the human civilization and human existence, the President called for unified effort to get over this difficult phase.

She was of the view that one could take advantage of the nation-wide lockdown imposed by the government to stem the spread of COVID-19 by indulging in creative and productive activities while staying at home. “As the country goes into lockdown, I believe that we can utilize this time to mull how we could make our economy self-reliant.”

The Head of the State has also drawn the attention of the federal government, district coordination committee, municipalities and rural municipalities for forging a strong coordination to arranging the physical infrastructures and technical preparation in the fight against COVID-19.

She has urged all the political parties, their sister organizations, youth clubs, students and welfare organizations to join the government’s battle against COVID-19 as the pandemic has upended daily lives across the world, infecting more than 400,000 people and claiming more than 18,000 lives worldwide so far.
