COVID-19: Jhapa makes 52-bed quarantines and 8-bed isolation ward

Bhadrapur Municipality and Mechinagar Municipality in Jhapa district have made quarantines of 45 beds as a part of precaution against the possible outbreak of COVID-19.

Mechi Hospital, Bhadrapur, has also prepared isolation rooms with eight beds. Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Pitambar Thakur, said that health equipment needed for the isolation ward have been kept in ready position.

Similarly, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Jhapa Udaya Bahadur Ranamagar shared that a quarantine of 32 beds was constructed at Kalbalgudhi Training Centre.

It is said that the suspected individuals’ specimen of swabs would be sent to the central public health laboratory in Kathmandu and they would be kept in the quarantine for 14 days.

Similarly, 20-bed quarantine has been prepared in the newly-constructed health post at Dhaijan in Mechinagar Municipality-11.

Deputy Mayor of the municipality Meena Uprety said that Nepal Red Cross Society Jhapa Chapter has provided 20 beds, blankets and cooking utensils. She shared that anyone with high fever during the checkups in the health desk at Kakadbhitta border point would be kept here in the quarantine.

Furthermore, Mechinagar Municipality is also preparing for the development of isolation wards at a health post in Dhulabari. Deputy Mayor Uprety stated that the isolation ward is being developed by closing a birthing centre in view of the current situation.
