Demand to keep PU central office in Biratnagar

The Nepali Congress and Socialist Party have demanded that the central office of the Purbanchal University should not be shifted from Biratnagar. The two parties organised an interaction on the matter here on Saturday.

Speaking at the interaction, various speakers warned of a strong agitation if the central office was shifted elsewhere.

NC State Assembly member Kedar Karki said there would be no option than to agitate in order to protest against a wrong deed.

Socialist Party leader Jayaram Yadav said the importance of Biratnagar would fade away if the political, socialist and historical achievements are not maintained.

Mayor of Biratnagar Bhim Parajuli urged all the intellectuals and the residents of Biratnagar to help continue the presence of the PU central office in the city.

It may be noted that the Bill designed to amend some Nepal Acts relating to Education passed by the House of Representatives states that the central office of the Purbanchal University will be established in Gothagaun of Sundarharaicha municipality, Morang district.
