Sports Associations should lead race for sports’ development

Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwakarma has said that related sports associations should take a lead for the development of sports sector while making commitments on behalf of the federal government for the same.

Inaugurating the Sahana Pradhan Memorial Second National Women’s Hockey Competition in Pokhara today, the Sports Minister said that Hockey despite being a popular game has received less applaud and pledged support from the government side to organise tournaments from national to the local level.

"Taking lead for the development of the sports is the responsibility of the related sports Associations. The government, Ministry of Youths and Sports and National Sports Council is ready to translate this into reality," he added.

The Minister also claimed that the infrastructure paucity in the sports sector is being developed.
