PM’s kidney transplant successful

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli underwent a successful kidney transplant at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) today. With this, the PM has undergone successful renal transplant for the second time.

According to TUTH executive Dr Prem Krishna Khadga, the Prime Minister had been taken to the operation theatre at 10:00 am today and it took around five hours to complete the transplant procedures. A medical squad comprising 15-20 members was involved in the transplant. The team was led by Prof Dr Prem Raj Gyawali. The detail report will be issued after sometimes, the hospital said.

The 68-year-old Prime Minister was hospitalised on March 2 and his check-up was conducted by different medical specialists.

Samiksha Sangraula who is the Prime Minister’s niece by relation donated him her kidney. Prior to this, he had undergone first kidney transplant in 2064 BS in India’s Apollo Hospital.
