Government starts studying effects of coronavirus

The government has started undertaking study on emerging impact of global menace of coronavirus (COVID-19) in overall economy of the country.
Minister for Finance and Communication and Information Technology Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada shared that a study has been initiated on the potential negative impacts to be caused by coronavirus in national economy of Nepal. "The Finance Ministry and Rastra Bank have started undertaking the study to this effect", he said.
The negative effects of coronavirus spreading from China have started impacting Nepalese economy. Nepal government has also put off publicity of Visit Nepal Year-2020 for the moment.
Finance Minister Dr Khatiwada shared the information about the study when there was growing complaint on the shortage of raw materials in the industrial sector. He clarified that the government would move ahead by studying the short-term and long-term effects of coronavirus on economy.
On another note, Finance Minister Dr Khatiwada said competitive bidding process would be adopted while purchasing security printing press. "Necessary decision would be made through appropriate process to that end", he noted.
Likewise, he shared that the finance ministry has taken perspective decisions for reforms in share market in last two years.
