Development works sluggish-Minster Pun

Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barshaman Pun spoke the need of exploring reasons behind dismal development performance.

Minister Pun said this while inaugurating the 12th Hydropower and Irrigation Conference-2020 organized by the Department of Hydropower and Irrigation at Dhulikhel in Kavrepalanchowk on Wednesday.

He stressed the need to spell out weaknesses behind sluggish performance against the plan. "There was a narrative that unstable government was the main reason behind snail pace development in yesteryears. It is urgent to dig out weaknesses on part of actors behind the sluggish move even when there is stable government now".

"Where the problem lies? Whether that be in minster or employees or director should be subject to review, he said, adding, only 7 percent of budget spending in a quarter and total 24 percent in seven months has demanded rigorous review to diagnose problems.

The ministers urged the employees not to get hesitated to speak up. "You do not need to wait for the directives of minster and director to perform your job. Let us discuss in group to identify the problems".

Department director Madhukar Prasad Rajbhandari shared the performance and progress of his department on the occasion.
