New generation should study history: PM Oli

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the new generation should make a study of history.
Inaugurating the 4th Indradaha Tourism Festival organised by Indradaha Integrated Tourism Development Committee here today, the PM contended that the new generation people should study the glorious history of Nepal. "We should recognize history and the contribution of bravery," he said.
He recalled that brave commander Kaji Kalu Pande had played an important role to take the country forward on the path of unification giving his life. Describing the late Kalu Pande as a valiant, far-sighted and an inspiring warrior in the history of Nepal, Prime Minister Oli underscored his contribution to the development of Indradaha, a place of religious, tourism and historical importance.
He suggested giving the responsibility of preservation of historical forts and ancient citadels reflecting Nepali’s history of bravery and valour in different battles should be given to the Nepal Army. According to him, with the marking of the festival the form of Dahachok has started to change.
Chief Minister of Bagmati State Dormani Poudel said the state government was positive regarding the continuation of the festival, adding that the Bagmati State has forwarded a special plan for the promotion of the tourism sector.
Mayor of Chandragiri municipality Ghanashyam Giri said the tourism festival has beenorganised to develop Dahachok as an important destination of domestic and foreign tourists while remaining focused on promotion of overall tourism.
Committee president Hari Sharan Thapa underscored the need of making the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign successful.
On the occasion, mediaperson and philanthropist Roshan Dani was felicitated. Indradaha figures in the list of 100 tourism destinations for the Visit Year identified by the government throughout the country. Indradaha, an ancient pond and the memorial to Kaji Kalu Pande is located at Dahachok.
There is also a temple of goddess Manakamana at Dahachok.
