Country will soon be linked with world thru waterways: PM Oli

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said Nepal will soon be linked with the world through waterways.

Addressing the ‘Kantipur Conclave’ organised in the federal capital on Friday, PM Oli said the country would be linked to the waterways despite being the landlocked one and the national flag carrier ships run in the country’s major rivers.

The PM was of the view that motorboat was a foundation for the tourism development, not only for fun. Saying that connectivity network with India and China was crucial for country’s economic prosperity, the PM added that Nepal wants to be connected with India from ‘multi-model connectivity’ and trans-Himalayan multidimensional connectivity network.

According to the PM, railway line will bring revolution in the field of transportation and shipment besides ensuring linkages with the neighoburing countries.

According to him, the international airport in Bhairahawa and Pokhara would complete soon, the PM argued that the projects would be the ‘game changer’ in the air connectivity. Likewise, the PM said Nepal has given priority to the trans-border transmission line. Government has given priority to the completion of the national pride projects, the PM expressed his confidence that Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project would be completed in near future.

Moreover, the PM said the government has forwarded the idea of ‘Sagarmatha Sambad’ to share its views in the global context and added that the first ‘Sagarmatha Sambad’ would take initiatives to hold discussions on the contemporary issues.

The Visit Nepal Year 2020 will give impetus to the country’s tourism industry and it would not only increase the number of tourists in the country but also widen the ambit of tourism sector while ensuring key achievement in infrastructure development, PM Oli said. PM Oli expressed the view that the country would move ahead in a collaborative way as there was no situation to Nepal to bear the foreign loan.

Saying the government has forwarded the national campaign of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’, he argued that building prosperous society means developing a well-cultured society with co-existence and harmony through civilized and positive thinking.

He shared that the activities for the construction of private housing, reconstruction of heritage sites after earthquake have been moving ahead in an extensive manner.

Adding he was always ready to control corruption, PM Oli claimed that the CIAA has increased value of national commitment by filing case against 175 people.
