SEE grade improvement programme in State 5

The State 5 Social Development Ministry has launched a result improvement programme targeting students of community schools appearing in the upcoming Secondary Education Examination (SEE). The programme is primarily focused on improving results of math and science subjects.

The State government decided to implement the programme bearing in mind the previous year’s SEE results which were not good enough. The majority of grades in these subjects were ‘D’ and ‘E’. In Pyuthan, the programme has been in effect since January 19, said social development division office, Pyuthan chief Bishnu Prasad Bhusal.

Schools in the district having more than 20 students at Grade 10 have been selected for the programme. As he said, 72 schools in the district have been running extra classes for math and 37 schools in science. One and half hour has been allotted for each class a day. The budget for operating extra classes will be provided on the basis of a number of students. Schools are to get from Rs 20,000 to Rs 54,000 to run the special classes and the programme course if of 52 days. This year’s SEE has been scheduled from 19 to 30 March.
