Lawmakers urge government to send engineers in remote areas

Lawmakers in the meeting of House of Representatives (HoR) today have urged the government to send the engineers to remote areas.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nembang had tabled the ‘Nepal Engineering Council (First Amendment) Bill 2076 BS’ seeking consideration for deliberations.

The bill originated in the Upper House. After that taking part in discussions, lawmakers Gajendra Bahadur Mahat and Gopal Bahadur Bam had argued that the engineers were not found willing to stay in remote areas and government should create environment conducive to make them staying there.

Lawmaker, Renuka Gurung stressed on quality of engineering as 10,000 students were studying in 51 engineering campuses.

While responding the queries of lawmakers, Minister said that the government was planning to take examinations to ensure the quality in engineers.
