Writ petition filed against ex PMs in Baluwatar land scam

A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding investigations into the alleged involvement of former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr Baburam Bhattarai in the Lalita Niwas land scam. Senior advocate Bal Krishna Neupane filed the petition challenging the anti-graft constitutional body, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority’s decision not to implicate the two former PMs in the scam.

The writ petition has also asked for investigations into Nabin Paudel, son of General Secretary of ruling Nepal Communist Party, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, for his alleged involvement in the scam.

On February 5, the CIAA had filed a charge-sheet against 175 individuals accusing them of their involvement in the cheat.
