Lawmakers demand CIAA’s transparency

A discussion in principle was held on the proposal seeking consideration on the 3rd amendment bill on Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) which was presented by Minister for Health and Population, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, on behalf of the Prime Minister at National Assembly meeting today.

Taking part in the discussion, lawmaker Prakash Panth said the provision that the public officials need not submit property was wrong and needed correction.

Lawmaker Briseshchandra Lal argued that the bill was brought in a way it would encourage wrong activities. The bill must speak on CIAA’s transparency, he underscored.

Lawmakers Pramila Kumari and Jitendra Narayan Dev said the CIAA itself should be corruption free first.

However, lawmaker Thagendra Prakash Puri said the bill was relevant.
