State no 1 braces to stop coronavirus

The State No 1 government is going to put in place all possible measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.

At an event here today by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the state government made public the decisions and preparation to stop the spread of the infection that originated in Wuhan in China and its outbreak has been a globe health emergency.

The state government will launch awareness drive about the infection in various places. Furthermore, to keep the infection in check, the passengers entering the State from various check points such as Rani Check Point in Biratnagar, Kadadvitta in Jhapa, Pashupatinagar in Ilam and Chandragadhi Airport and Biratnagar Airport will be screened at the entry points.

Various hospitals in the State such as Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences, Biratnagar-based Koshi Hospital and Bhadrapur-based Mechi Hospital among others will have isolated rooms to accommodate coronavirus infected patients, if any.

The medical officers had pressed for setting up a sophisticated lab to examine the coronavirus and designate separate treatment facilities in every major hospitals for those contracting coronavirus.

They have suggested anyone suffering from flu, common cold, fever to consult doctors immediately if they don’t get rid of the infection in spite of medication.

Furthermore, as a preventive measure, doctors have advised one and all not to maintain unsafe contact with the domestic animals and birds and consume meat and eggs only after cooking well.

The Ministry of Social Development will launch awareness drive against this flu-like infection.

While the border points with China were sealed off by the Chinese authorities in view of preventing widespread of coronavirus, the concerned local authorities in the Taplejung and Sankhuwasabha districts will be asked to inform the concerned Ministry to facilitate the smooth supply of food items and other daily essentials in those bordering places during the lockdown.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hikmat Kumar Karki reassuringly said that the state government was making sure that the infection does not enter Nepal especially via state’s northern bordering points.

On the occasion, Officiating Chief of Koshi Hospital Dr Geeta Mishra and BPKIHS’s Dr Dibyaraj Prasai briefed about novel coronavirus and its prevention and cure in detail.
