Senior journalist Sharma no more

Senior journalist and former General Manager of the Nepal Television, Durga Nath Sharma, passed away today.

Suffering from heart and kidney disease, Sharma, 72, died while undergoing treatment at Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre, Tribhuvan University teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

One of the founders of the Nepal Television, Sharma was the news presenter. He also served as deputy general manager and general manager at NTV. Sharma was first programme presenter during the broadcast of NTV on December 29, 1985. He also served as news reader in Radio Nepal as well as worked in Gorkhapatra national vernacular daily.

Born in Fikkal of Ilam, Sharma is survived by a spouse and two sons.
