Doctors caution against outbreak of coronavirus

Experts have cautioned against possible outbreak of coronavirus in Nepal. As it is infectious, all should keep high to get prevent from the communicable disease, said Mahendra Shrestha, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population at a face-to-face programme here on Saturday.

A Nepali student returning home from China where the infection was first detected is said to be infected with the virus. Following this report, preparedness has been adopted, said the ministry.

A health desk equipped with necessary workforce and equipments has been set up at Tribhuvan International Airport to conduct a health check-up and take suspicious people entering Nepal from foreign countries under surveillance.

Likewise, Sukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku is all prepared to deal with the people infected with the virus. "The virus is a serious issue here. But there is no serious condition regarding the disease," he said. Three to four percent of the infected people in China died from the infection, according to data presented at the event by Shrestha.

Hospital’s director Dr Basudev Pandey urged for keeping sanitation measures to stay safe from the infection. Likewise, infectious disease expert Dr Sher Bahadur Pun asked people to properly cook meat as the virus spread from animals. "The virus is not a new disease, its new type has appeared this time," he said.
