Women’s presence increasing with pride

Senior Superintendent of Police of Gandaki State Puja Singh has said that a woman should take pride in herself and move ahead by showing her knowledge, skills and efficiency in every sector.

Speaking at a women symposium organised by Lions Club of 325 B 1 here on Saturday, she said lately a prestigious presence of women is increasing in every sector. The world is beautiful because of the role played by women as efficient managers.

Founding chair of Media Advocacy Group and senior journalist Babita Basnet said patriarchal stereotypes are barriers to social transformation and suggested women to move ahead for social justice by seeking their rightful role in the society.

Gandaki State Assembly member Bhima Dhungana said women are always ahead in the society but behind in terms of mentality. She shared about the goal of women’s equality and empowerment envisaged by the state government in its five-year plan.

District Governor of Lions Club Indu Lamsal said that the Lions Club has so far provided empowerment training to 2,200 women. Programme Coordinator Archana Pradhan said a civilized and cultured society was not possible until unless the significance of women was accepted.
