Police given permission to arrest singer Raut

Popular singer Astha Raut who is alleged of using abusive language against the police institution is to face a trial under the indecent behavior after the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, was granted permission from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, to arrest her.

Officiating Chief District Officer Gaulochan Shainju confirmed the permission to arrest the signer as sought by the Range.

Range Chief Senior Superintendent of Police Uttam Raj Subedi said the case under indecent behavior was filed against the singer and if she failed to present herself before the police, she will be arrested.

It may be noted that singer Raut last Wednesday appeared on the Facebook live, accusing the security force at Tribhuvan International Airport of misbehaving with her by using disrespectful language to her. In the 10 minutes and 31 seconds video, she vented ire against the police institution for what she claimed improper treatment to her.

The CCTV footage of the incident occurred inside a checking room towards the domestic terminal at TIA same day was released Friday.

Police said singer’s behavior seems suspicious while the behavior of police woman Ramita Shrestha suggests no mishbeavour, said Metropolitan Police Office Chief Deputy Inspector General of Police Bishwaraj Pokhrel.
