Seismic survey works go on in Dailekh

A seismic survey is going on here to find out the petroleum reserve and their storage capacity in several parts of Dailekh district.

The volume of petroleum products and the storage capacity of areas having its reserves will be determined through a seismic survey.

Now, drilling works based in several locations have been completed. The drilling works were carried out up to 45 feet deep. Presently, works are going on to create artificial tremors by supplying explosive devices into small holes made through drilling.

The survey is underway covering 200 kilometers of area in 10 seismic lines, said explorer at Department of Mines and Geology, Dr Ganeshnath Tripathi.

Three seismic lines in the east- west part and seven in the north-south parts have been created for the exploration. There is a plan to complete the survey by mid-February.
