Death toll on Dhading truck accident reaches 7

The death toll in the truck accident occurred in Dhading district on Tuesday has reached seven. Thirty-two people were injured in the accident.

Three people died on the sport while four others succumbed to injuries during the treatment. The 32 injured ones have been receiving treatment at different health facilities, shared Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Office, Dhading, Rabindra Regmi.

The accident took place when the truck (Ga 1 Kha 8012) heading to Dhadingbesi from Mandali suddenly lost its control and overturned on a road at Jyamire of Nilkantha municipality.

The deceased ones were identified as Tilak Bahadur Gurung, Purnaman Shrestha, Prem Bahadur Gurung, Bidur Gurung, Bal Bahadur Gurung, Sete Bahadur Gurung and Dhwoj Bahadur Gurung of Bhul Bhule of Nilkantha municipality-2 in the district.

One among the injured ones, Kamal Gurung, informed that the truck was over speeding truck and almost all travelling in the truck had consumed alcohol and were making a noise and suddenly it met with the accident.

They were returning from the temple of family deity and had feasted heavily following the ritual, the injured ones reported to the police.

Among the injured ones, 10 were airlifted to Kathmandu-based Trauma Centre while six have been receiving treatment at the Dhading Hospital and rest others in the District Hospital, Dhading, said Dhading District Hospital Chairperson, Mahendra Dhamala.

The families of injured ones and locals have demanded action against those instigating to drive the truck recklessly and the driver who was reported to have driving under the influence of alcohol leading to such fatality.
