Man alleged of improper act in public vehicle made public

Police have arrested a 21-year-old youth for his alleged involvement in indecent behavour in a public vehicle and made him public today.

The accused in the public offence is Rabin Sarki aka Rabin Ruchal from Tanahu who is currently residing in Bikash Chowk of Bharatpur, Chitwan.

The self-recorded video about it was released on January 25, 2019 through the social network after seven months of the incident. The video was uploaded on social network after seventh months of its recording, according to Metropolitan Crime Control Division.

The accused was brought to the central capital on Sunday afternoon.

As said by Division Chief Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, the accused was identified and arrested following tremendous efforts. Police also sought the help of Google and Facebook to identity him. He will be tried under the Cyber Crime Act.

He had been living in Kathmandu for the past three years before the incident and he was a rickshaw puller at that time. Sarki had gone to India in the hope of escaping the arrest after few days of the incident.

Central Investigation Bureau of Police was also looking into the case seriously. Police, however, had found the vehicle from Dhalku of Kathmandu after few days of the incident came to its notice.

According to the Division, Sarki returned Nepal three months ago thinking the case was normalised.

Police arrested him in the second day after his identification. If he proved guilty, he shall face a jail sentence up to five years and a fine of Rs 300,000.
