President calls for more investment in children

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called on the government and bodies concerned to scale up investment in children who are the responsible citizen of the future.

On the occasion of the ‘President with Children’ programme held at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Shital Niwas on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti today, the Head-of-the-State urged for increasing investment in children’s education, health and other aspects of their life, expressing hope the parliament and government would pay a special attention if they are deprived of proper care and protection.

She said she was happy to spend time with children and give them guardianship at the moment on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The children from the Nepal Bal Sangathan (Nepal Children’s Organisation) gave their musical performance on the occasion.

Similarly, a group of girl students from the Padmakanya Multiple Campus gave a special dance performance. Children were offered special Maghi delicacies by the President’s Office, Shital Niwas.

The culture of a political gathering and tea reception at the Shital Niwas on the occasion of Maghi has been replaced by the ‘President with Children’ programme for the past two years.

The programme aims to draw the State’s attention to the welfare of children, it is said.
