Festivals enrich culture: Chairman Dahal

Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said festivals observed by diverse communities have enriched national culture.At a programme organised here on the occasion of Maghi festival on Wednesday, Chairman Dahal said unity in the diversity would make nationality stronger.

He viewed that although people from all communities observe Makar Sakranti from different perspectives, there is a specific tradition of selecting guardian by Tharu community, and approving the action plan for a year on this occasion.

Recalling that he had, in the past, made possible efforts to give separate identity to Tharu community due to their original culture, Chairman Dahal said Tharu community was included in Madhesi community before promulgation of the constitution.

The NCP Chairman expressed the belief that the party would continue the struggle for people’s rights as constitution is the document of the agreements. All should move ahead to gain new achievements by utilizing the achievements, according to him.

Saying the sacrifice and support of Tharu community to achieve democratic republic in the country, Chairman Dahal expressed commitment to releasing all who are in prison for their political faith.
