Country’s attention on sports: Minister Bishwokarma

Minister for Youth and Sports, Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma, has said the 13th South Asian Games has glorified Nepal. Inaugurating the State level football championship at Machhapuchhre rural municipality here on Wednesday, Minister Bishwokarma claimed that achievements Nepali players made in the SAG earned huge repute in sports sector.

The achievements made by the Nepali players in the SAG drew entire country’s attention toward sports, he said, adding diverse sectors showed interest for the development of sports.

According to him, government was planning in a new manner for the development of sports. Works for the construction of playground at all local levels will begin from this very month. Rs 5 million has been allocated for each playground.

On the occasion, Gandaki State Assembly member Pushpa KC Bhandari said the SAG success in Nepal has also drawn global attention. It would help promote Nepal’s tourism, she believed.

Rural municipality chief Karna Bahadur Gurung said the playground at Lahachowk in the rural municipality would be a popular spot for sports.

The weeklong tournament is participated by 12 teams from across the State.
