Two held on charge of posting misleading info on VIPs on social site

Police have taken two people under control on the charge of posting misleading information related to distinguished persons, including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, on Facebook.

Those arrested in this connection are 36-year-old Tara Nachhiring of Ainselukharka, Khotang, currently living in Budhanilkantha of Kathmandu and 46-year-old Ram Kumar Shrestha of Ward Number 5 of Panauti Municipality, the Cyber Crime Police Bureau said.

A team from the Bureau arrested both of them after discovering that Shrestha had committed an indecent act using PM Oli’s photo to the effect of tarnishing his reputation.

The Bureau said the two were arrested on Thursday and they would be tried under the Electronic Transaction Act, 2063 and the existing laws governing the electronic media.
