Understanding reached to carry COVID-19 infected people by ambulance

The Nepal Ambulance Service (phone no 102) has made necessary preparation for operating their service in Kathmandu Valley to carry coronavirus infected people. In collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City, five ambulances have been prepared for the same.

An understanding was reached to provide the service from today after the Ministry of Health and Population provided personal protection equipment (PPE) to emergency health technicians and ambulance drivers for the same.

An understanding in this regard was reached between the Ministry and Ambulance service today at Nepal Army’s Chhauni-based ‘COVID-19Disaster Management Centre Operation’, established to prevent, control and combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the agreement, the ambulance service would be brought into operation with four ambulances of the Health Ministry and one of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Skilled human resources (ambulance driver and health workers) from security bodies would be provided if additional emergency health technicians are needed in ambulance operation, according to the centre.
