Health Minister stresses on unity to combat COVID-19

Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal has said that the treatment of the COVID-19 infected patients would be carried out only from the dedicated hospitals.

In an interaction at the Ministry with a team that returned after inspecting six hospitals about their ongoing preparation and for the treatment of such patients today, Minister Dhakal said that the hospitals have been designated as dedicated ones for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

He further shared that the Shukraraj Tropical hospital, Patan Hospital, Armed Police Hospital will be used as the primary centres to treat such patients while other hospitals will be kept in high alert. The remaining hospitals could be used in case there is overflow of the patients.

Minister Dhakal also stressed on unity to combat the deadly situation created as a result of the pandemic. He added that the government will ensure there is no shortage of medical equipment for the doctors, nurses and other staffs in course of treatment of Corona Virus infected cases.

On behalf of the inspection team, Nepal Medical Council registrar Dr Krishna Adhikari briefed the Minister about the progress of the hospitals.

The team made an onsite inspection of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Bir Hospital and Trauma Centre, Civil Hospital and Bhaktapur Hospital. According to the team, all the hospitals were found well prepared to manage the treatment of COVID-19 infected patients.
