Sajha Party for high-level all-party mechanism to combat COVID-19

In an attempt to combat the present and future crises created by the COVID-19, Sajha Party has recommended the government to constitute a high-level all-party political mechanism and high-level experts’ team.

Sajha Party’s coordinator Rabindra Mishra and spokesperson Dr Surya Raj Acharya on Saturday handed over a memo to Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokhrel with recommendations addressed to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Issuing a press note, Sajha Party said that solidarity of the political level to reflect the national consensus is needed at this hour for the control and treatment of the coronavirus.

The party has suggested that formation of a high-level political mechanism under the leadership of the prime minister, if possible, comprising the leaders of major political parties is inevitable. “Such mechanism will also assist in maintaining people’s credibility towards the state and politics during the time of this crisis,” read the letter.

Likewise, the high-level experts’ team will offer analyses, feedback and reviews to the government to combat the immediate and long-term impacts of corona virus pandemic in different sectors, according to the Sajha Party.

As per the recommendation, such committee could comprise experts of administration and health sectors from home and abroad.
