A five-month pregnant woman of Khotang district has been airlifted to Kathmandu after excessive-bleeding. Srijana Tamang, 22, of Aiselukharka rural municipality-3 is receiving treatment at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital at Thapathali, said Tamang’s husband Ganesh Tamang.
She was rescued on a Nepal Army helicopter. Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen Parbat Gurung directed transportation of the woman as the country goes under lockdown over coronavirus crisis.
Initially, Tamang was admitted to the primary health centre at Aiselukharka in Khotang after she suffered excessive bleeding since Friday evening. The health facility referred Tamang to a hospital, said assistant health worker Nirmala Sharma.
The President’s Women Upliftment Programme under the Ministry, which has been carrying out free helicopter rescue of pregnant and nursing mothers, will bear the expenses of the transportation of the woman.
Meanwhile, Minister Gurung directed doctors at the maternity hospital to ensure full treatment of the expecting mother. (Photo available)
